Bible Study Weekly Recap - PEACE

We have been studying the fruit of the Spirit. In the gospel of St. John chapter 15, we read that Jesus is the true Vine. We are the branches that are supposed to bear fruit. If you do not bear fruit, He takes the branch away and if you do bear fruit He purges the branch. This did not sound too friendly until I looked up synonyms of the word purge: Restore, cleanse, purify, heal, sanctify, amend, improve, refine, regenerate, clear, acquit, elevate, uplift, vindicate, and exonerate. God really loves us and cares for us. He knows what is best for us and knows what we need before we even ask.  Then in verse fifteen He says, “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends.” God calls us His friends, and we can know Him. I am happy to be called His friend.

Last Saturday, we studied peace. Know Jesus know peace. No Jesus no peace. In Luke chapter 2, Simeon was full of joy when he saw baby Jesus, he picked him up in his arms, blessed him and said, “now I can die in peace.” He went from joy to peace when he saw Love. Often the fruit of the Spirit will overlap, and peace depends on both joy and love. Love is needed for a relationship with God. He is both friend and Master as well as the Prince of Peace.  If you missed the study, you can view the PowerPoint and Video here:

No Bible study this week, so be sure to exercise patience because when we resume the following week, we will study the next fruit of the Spirit which is... wait for it ... Patience.
