I asked God for patience, and He said wait. That was a joke ha-ha. Now I say be careful what you ask for. If we want patience, we better ask God for His supernatural patience, because our own patience will run out. I like to think that I learned patience in my job. As a cab driver, I wait for people all day long. When a person walks out of a hotel and comes to my cab, they have no idea how long I have waited for them. If the cab line is long, chances are I have been waiting for a while. And then when I finally get my fare, I find myself waiting at a long red light or stuck in traffic from hell. At least now I’m getting paid to wait. So, I’m not in a hurry, although my passenger might be. I can sense the stress sometimes. That is not my fault, they should have left earlier, right? One time (when I was a new driver) these people told me to step on it because they were gonna miss their flight. I did and got a ticket for speeding. I explained to the cop that these folks were going to miss their flight which made him take his time writing the ticket. Nice guy, I’m sure. Some of them (motorcycle cops) just have no soul. I saw some cab drivers pulled over on Thanksgiving once. I’m sure that they were very thankful for the citation that they just received. There was also a time where I waited over an hour for a guy that just wanted to go across the street although he seemed healthy enough to walk over. Then after I got him to his very short destination (remember I waited over an hour) while paying me he said, “short trip small tip, right?” I said, “brother give and thou shalt receive.” Which means instead of giving me one dollar, he gave me two. Hallelujah! Another guy I had in my cab one day accused me of hitting the red light on purpose so that the meter would climb higher. Believe me, I wanted him out of my cab as fast as possible but didn’t want to run the light. I had enough tickets in the past when I was younger when I used to drive fast. But I finally figured out that if you go slow, you will make dough, and if you drive fast, you won’t last. Glory to God!
God is very patient with us. He waited 120 years for Noah to build the ark and only eight people were saved. God waited 80 years for Moses to be ready to deliver Israel from Egypt. Jesus waited 30 years before He started His public ministry. Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father. He now waits for His bride. So far, He has waited over 2000 years. Now that is patience.
For those who may have missed our latest Bible Study (which we had to have a lot of patience for as well), here is the PowerPoint and the Video (Enjoy!):
May God continue to have patience with us and grant us His patience during trials. Just remember that God is never early, never late, and always right on time. God bless.
