There is light, and there is dark. There is truth, and there are lies. There is right, and there is wrong. If you walk in the light, the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from all unrighteousness. If you know the truth, it will set you free. And if you do what is right, you will live and not die. If Adam and Eve had obeyed God, they would not have sinned. If Cain did what was right, he would not have killed his brother. The Bible says in Genesis 4:5 that Cain was angry because God did not accept his offering. His countenance fell meaning he looked dejected, his face fell, and he was gloomy. God had received a gift from his brother Abel that was the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. Cain did not do what was right. He brought spare change, the leftovers, an offering that was not worthy of God. In Malachi 1:7-8, It says, ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar... ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? Offer it now unto thy governor, will he be pleased with you or accept thy person? Saith the LORD of hosts. The LORD asked Cain, “Why are you angry? Why do you look so dejected? Why has your face fallen? If you do what is right, you will be accepted. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” God was still trying to get him to do what was right.

In the parable about the prodigal son, it ends with the father pleading with the elder brother to come back into the house. The elder brother was also upset with his younger brother in that story. Isaiah 1:18-20 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Acts 16:30-31 ... Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Doing what is right, like believing God, obeying Him, or giving Him a worthy offering, affects your destiny and the lives of your family.

The Beatles sang ‘We Can Work It Out’, well God can work it out. Try to see things His way. Yes, we all fall short of the glory of God, but I believe that He is the God of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. He would like us not to run from Him, but to run to Him. Sit with Him for a while. Running from sin would be better, like what Joseph did when he ran away from Potiphar’s wife. He can work it out; God can work it out! Psalm 145:17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all His works. I was going to give a bunch of scriptures of ones we missed in the Bible study, but it took a turn. Stand in His righteousness and we become the righteousness of God in Christ. Hallelujah!
